One of our specialties at Cleanbody is treating complex cases. Complex cases include patients with multiple diagnoses or layers of disease, patients who do not fit into the mold of conventional diagnoses and standard treatment protocols, and/or patients who have seen multiple doctors and tried various treatment protocols without improvement in their condition.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that can't be explained by any underlying medical condition. The fatigue may worsen with physical or mental activity, but doesn't improve with rest.

The cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is unknown, because this disorder is often the result of burden on the system caused by a number of factors such as toxin overload, viral infections, and psychological stress. There's no single test to confirm a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome, so multiple factors need to be evaluated to treat this complicated disorder.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a complex disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain. Patients also experience fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues.

This is a complex disorder that is often the results of a number of factors including physical trauma, surgery, infection, psychological stress, and toxin overload. All of these factors need to be assessed and addressed in order to target the root cause of this disorder.

Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune diseases are conditions in which your immune system mistakenly attacks your body. Normally, the immune system can tell the difference between foreign cells and your own cells.

Autoimmune diseases are often the result of immune system triggers such as foods, infections, and toxins and poor gastrointestinal and detoxification pathways.

Some autoimmune diseases target only one organ. Type 1 diabetes damages the pancreas. Hashimoto's damages the thyroid. Other diseases, like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), affect the whole body.

Multiple Diagnoses

A case can also be very complex when there are multiple diagnoses to treat and the patient is taking multiple medications. When this is the case, multiple organ systems are being affected by dysfunction and system burden, and Dr. Fong needs to piece together the puzzle one at a time to uncover the root cause.

Multiple Layers

Complex cases often have multiple diagnoses or multiple layers of disease. These patients are typically on multiple conventional medications or are too sick to take any medications, both conventional and natural. Dr. Fong works on the root cause of the issue. These cases are very complex, because each layer needs to slowly be "peeled" away, like unpeeling an onion's layers. Dr. Fong has extensive experience in treating these types of complex cases.

Tailored to You

Treatment for a complex case needs to be individualized and outside -of-the-box. Often these patients are too sensitive to tolerate medications and even herbal and nutritional supplements. With these complex cases, Dr. Fong typically starts with the most gentle treatments that begin to to decrease the stressors on the body and stimulate the healing process. She takes the time to get to know the patient and really understand the disease process. Only then, can she understand how to stimulate the body's ability to self-heal.
