CleanSKIN

The skin is the body's largest organ and plays a vital role in detoxification through dermal excretion. Nurturing CleanSKIN involves understanding the mechanisms of dermal excretion, exploring testing options to assess skin health, and implementing strategies to support a healthy and efficient elimination of toxins through the skin.

Why is it important to have CleanSKIN?

  • Toxin and Waste Elimination: The skin serves as a barrier that helps protect the body from external toxins and pollutants. Additionally, it plays a role in the elimination of certain toxins and waste products through sweat. Sweat glands in the skin help regulate body temperature by producing sweat, which contains various waste products, including urea and small amounts of toxins. When sweat evaporates from the skin's surface, these waste products are eliminated, promoting detoxification and maintaining the body's internal balance.

  • Protection and Defense: The skin provides a physical barrier against harmful microorganisms, chemicals, and environmental factors. The outermost layer of the skin, called the epidermis, acts as a protective shield, preventing the entry of pathogens and reducing the risk of infection. The skin's acidic pH and the presence of antimicrobial peptides further enhance its defense mechanisms. In addition to physical protection, the skin also plays a role in immune function. Specialized immune cells in the skin help recognize and respond to pathogens, contributing to the body's overall defense against infections.

How does the Cleanbody Method support CleanSKIN?

There are three steps in the Cleanbody Method, and all of the steps support CleanSKIN.

STEP 1: EVALUATE

It is important for you to evaluate your skin health on a yearly basis with your healthcare practitioner. In our CleanSTART program, we will support you in investigating your skin health using lab tests such as:

  • Skin Health Assessment: Specialized assessments conducted by dermatologists or skincare professionals can evaluate the health of your skin and identify potential issues or imbalances that may affect its ability to excrete toxins. These assessments may include skin hydration levels, barrier function analysis, or specific tests for skin conditions.

STEP 2: OPTIMIZE

In Step 2 of the Cleanbody Method, we support you in optimizing your Cleanbody Pillars. The following Cleanbody Pillars support CleanSKIN:

  • CleanFOOD: Proper nutrition is essential for skin health. Consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats provides the necessary vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support skin integrity and overall health. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, have anti-inflammatory properties that benefit the skin. Staying adequately hydrated supports overall skin health and facilitates the elimination of toxins through sweat. Drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day to ensure proper hydration.

  • CleanROUTINE:

    • Skin Cleansing: Cleansing the skin regularly helps remove dirt, oil, and accumulated toxins. Use gentle cleansers suitable for your skin type to avoid stripping the skin's natural oils and disrupting its barrier function.

    • Supportive Skincare: Using skincare products formulated with natural and non-toxic ingredients can promote skin health and minimize the exposure to harmful substances. Look for products free of harsh chemicals, fragrances, and known irritants.

    • Protective Measures: Protecting the skin from excessive sun exposure and environmental pollutants can help maintain its health and function. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to environmental toxins whenever possible.

    • Optimizing Sleep: Adequate sleep is essential for healthy skin. During sleep, the body repairs and regenerates skin cells, allowing for proper functioning and maintaining a youthful appearance. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to support optimal skin health. Establish a consistent sleep routine, create a calming sleep environment, and prioritize relaxation before bed to improve sleep quality.

  • CleanFIT: Engaging in regular exercise benefits both overall health and skin health. Exercise promotes healthy blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. It also helps flush out toxins through sweating and supports the skin's natural detoxification process. Incorporate a mix of cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and flexibility exercises into your routine to optimize skin health.

  • CleanMIND: Chronic stress can negatively impact the skin by triggering inflammation, increasing oil production, and impairing the skin's barrier function. Implement stress management techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, or engaging in activities you enjoy to reduce stress levels. Prioritizing self-care and finding healthy ways to manage stress can help promote a clear and radiant complexion.

STEP 3 SUPPORT

In Step 3, we will explore additional supplements and treatments that can provide support in nurturing CleanSKIN, if needed. While a balanced diet and lifestyle are key, certain circumstances may benefit from additional interventions, including nutritional supplements, herbs and homeopathy, advanced nutrition plans, supportive treatments, and compounded medications when available for use.
